Alan commenced his pupillage in Messrs Karpal Singh & Co. under the late Mr Karpal Singh. He was admitted to the High Court of Malaya at Kuala Lumpur in 2009.
Alan later chambered in Sarawak in Messrs Suhaili & Ling (formerly known as Messrs Suhaili & Bong) and was admitted to the High Court of Sabah & Sarawak in Sarawak in 2010. In October 2011, he was admitted to the partnership of the same.
Alan was subsequently elected and has served as honourable member of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly from 2011 until 2016.
Prior to joining Rohamat & Ling he has handled a variety of criminal litigation cases involving matters on constitutional matters, remand proceedings, customs matters, drug cases, and etc
